The Boss DD-2 Digital Delay is a landmark in pedal history — the world’s first compact digital delay. Introduced in 1983 and built in Japan, the DD-2 brought studio-grade delay effects to pedalboards with clarity, reliability, and iconic simplicity. This particular unit (s/n 412600) is an early blue label version made in Japan, and features the sought-after long chip — the original 12-bit MN3005-based processor shared with Roland’s classic rack delay units.
The DD-2 delivers up to 800ms of warm, clear delay with a slightly grainy, musical texture that blends beautifully into any mix. It excels at everything from tight slapback to dreamy ambient layers. The control layout — Effect Level, Feedback, Delay Time, and Mode Selector — is simple, responsive, and familiar to generations of players.
Built in the rugged Boss metal housing and revered for its durability and tone, the long-chip DD-2 remains a favorite among vintage pedal collectors and serious players alike.
Fully tested and in excellent working condition. A historic delay pedal with the legendary long chip — a must-have for fans of classic digital yet warm tone.
