The Digitech Whammy V5 is a modern version of the iconic pitch-shifting pedal that has defined countless guitar tones since its original release. The fifth generation combines the classic Whammy sound with improved tracking, true bypass switching, and the option to select between Classic and Chord modes for enhanced versatility.
The pedal features the familiar treadle expression control, allowing real-time pitch manipulation from subtle detuning to extreme two-octave shifts. In Classic mode, the Whammy V5 recreates the distinctive tracking and character of earlier Whammy units, while Chord mode provides more precise polyphonic pitch shifting, making it suitable for complex chords as well as single-note lines.
In addition to Whammy pitch shifts, the pedal includes harmony settings and detune options, expanding its creative range for riffs, solos, and experimental textures. The robust metal housing ensures reliability for both stage and studio use.
