The Rockman Acoustic Guitar Pedal is a rare SR&D/Dunlop‑built compressor‑style pedal introduced in 1994, designed to make an electric guitar sound more like an acoustic. Developed originally by Scholz Research & Development (SR&D) and later re‑issued by Dunlop, it features a streamlined interface with a grey button on the earlier SR&D units and blue on later Dunlop versions. Its primary function is clean‑compression with tone shaping via simple bass and treble controls, sculpting your electric signal towards acoustic realism while maintaining clarity and sustain. Controls include Compressor (compression amount or threshold), Treble (high‑frequency presence), and Bass (low‑frequency fullness). Using controlled compression plus EQ tweak, it imparts brightness and resonance ideal for simulating acoustic body tones while preserving dynamic responsiveness. While not a direct amp simulator, it was inspired by the classic CLN2 Rockman clean sound and designed to position guitar in a mix much like an acoustic would. The unit is compact, robust and especially well suited for direct recording or amp‑world setups. There are no widely known users tied specifically to this model, but its lineage connects to the Rockman tradition used by studio engineers seeking the clean, airy tones behind hits of the 1980s era.
