The Scholz Research and Development Rockman X100 is a legendary headphone amplifier from the 1980s, designed by Tom Scholz of Boston. Widely regarded as one of the most iconic portable practice and recording tools of its time, the X100 delivers the signature Rockman tone — a polished, saturated sound with built-in chorus and delay that defined countless classic rock recordings of the era.
This vintage unit has been fully serviced and includes a modification with a 9V barrel plug mounted on the side, allowing for direct connection to a power supply instead of relying solely on batteries. This makes it more convenient for modern use while preserving its authentic circuitry and classic sound.
The Rockman X100 offers four selectable modes: Clean 1, Clean 2, Edge, and Distortion. It also includes built-in stereo chorus and echo effects, providing lush, spacious tones directly from the unit. Originally designed for headphones, it can also be run into recording setups or amplifiers, making it a versatile tool for practice, studio work, and collectors seeking the unmistakable Rockman sound.
