The Boss BF-1 is the very first flanger pedal released by Boss, introduced in 1977 as part of their original brown-label series. This vintage unit (serial number 947600) features the highly regarded Reticon SAD1024 bucket brigade chip, known for its smooth, organic modulation and rich analog character.
The BF-1 delivers a wide range of flanging effects, from gentle modulation and jet-like whooshes to metallic resonance and psychedelic swirls. The analog circuitry provides a warm and musical tone with a distinctly vintage flavor, ideal for classic rock, new wave, experimental, and ambient applications.
Controls include Manual, Depth, Rate, and Resonance, giving you detailed control over the sweep range, intensity, speed, and feedback of the flanging effect. Unlike later Boss compact pedals, the BF-1 comes in a larger wedge-style enclosure and uses standard 1/4" jacks for both input and output.
This unit is fully functional and in excellent working condition. A highly collectible early Boss pedal with lush, analog modulation and legendary BBD tone.
