The Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion is a two-mode distortion pedal that has earned a permanent place in rock history. Introduced by Boss in the early 1990s, it builds on the reputation of the classic DS-1 while offering considerably more range. Turbo Mode I produces a warm, mellow distortion with a flat frequency response, well suited to rhythm work and tight power chords. Turbo Mode II delivers a more aggressive, biting distortion with a boosted mid-range, designed for cutting lead tones that push through a full band. A remote jack allows an external footswitch to be connected for hands-free switching between the two modes during live performance. The controls for level, tone, and distortion are straightforward and effective, and the pedal responds well to picking dynamics and guitar volume adjustments. This example is an early unit made in Taiwan bearing the silver label, with serial number Y1B6745, a version sought after by collectors of vintage Boss compact pedals. The iconic Boss compact enclosure is renowned for its durability, and this pedal has been tested and serviced and functions as intended. Confirmed users of the Boss DS-2 include Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Prince.

Customer photo review of Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive (s/n 094922, black label)

As an amateur, fitting in the Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive is complicated. With the POD 2.0 alone there are so many variables, and more so with the SD-1. To play along with Tool's 'Pneuma' took me 10 minutes to arrive at the right sounds, sort of. The SD-1 is a less powerful apparatus than I expected, but in time we will be friends I guess.

Customer video review of Mythos Argo Octave Fuzz

Customer photo review of Dunlop Crybaby Dardevil Fuzz Wah (s/n AC68F984)
