The LPD Seventy4 Overdrive is a boutique, hand-built all-analog stompbox inspired by the iconic tones of early-’70s British Plexi amps. Built in Mesa, Arizona, it delivers rich midrange, lush harmonic overtones, and a strong low-end presence that’s highly tunable—a favorite for players chasing that vintage, amp-like crunch. The gain structure is expressive and dynamic, offering a wide range from tight rhythm grit to smooth lead sustain. This mint-in-box unit comes complete as new, ready for use or display.
It features straightforward controls: Gain adjusts saturation level, Tone shapes overall brightness, and Level sets output volume. The pedal incorporates true-bypass switching—often using soft-touch relay bypass—for transparent signal integrity when off. With very low current draw (around 20 mA at 9 V DC) and compact, lightweight design, it’s ideal for minimalist pedalboard setups or travel rigs.
LPD’s designer Lawrence Petross aimed to recreate the voice and feel of the original JMP and Plexi circuits, and many players report an unusually rich harmonic complexity and dynamic responsiveness—even comparing it favorably to other higher-gain or boutique Plexi-inspired pedals. Its ability to respond sensitively to pick attack and guitar volume adds to its expressive character.
