The Boss OD-2r Turbo Overdrive is an analog overdrive pedal designed to deliver a wide range of gain textures, from mild edge-of-breakup tones to more saturated, harmonically rich drive. Featuring Level, Tone and Drive controls alongside the distinctive Turbo mode, the pedal offers both classic overdrive response and a more aggressive voicing with increased gain and presence. The OD-2r is known for its dynamic feel and ability to cut through a mix while retaining clarity and articulation.

This particular unit has been modified with a strong focus on improving transparency and frequency response while maintaining the original character of the circuit. The design operates fully on transistor-based circuitry without the use of ICs, and these original transistors remain unchanged. The entire signal path has been carefully upgraded with high-quality capacitors with increased values, resulting in a broader frequency spectrum and improved openness, particularly in the high-end detail.

The clipping section has been refined through an alternative diode configuration combined with LEDs, providing a more controlled distortion response with improved harmonic structure and a smoother transition into overdrive. These adjustments result in a more balanced tonal profile and increased clarity across the gain range, making the pedal suitable for both studio and live applications where definition and responsiveness are important.

As a Silver Label Made in Taiwan example, this unit represents a well-built and reliable version of the OD-2r, housed in the familiar Boss compact enclosure. Includes original box and manual.

As an amateur, fitting in the Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive is complicated. With the POD 2.0 alone there are so many variables, and more so with the SD-1. To play along with Tool's 'Pneuma' took me 10 minutes to arrive at the right sounds, sort of. The SD-1 is a less powerful apparatus than I expected, but in time we will be friends I guess.

Mooie wah/fuzz , klinkt meer dan prima . Het enige nadeel is dat je de fuzz niet apart kunt gebruiken en de volgorde wah/fuzz of fuzz/wah niet kunt omschakelen . Is voor de rest ook geen probleem , maar het was mooi geweest als het kon .
